Winery: Laetitia Vineyard & Winery
Bottling: 2006 Estate Pinot Blanc
Sub-Region: Arroyo Grande Valley
Estimated Retail Price: $16
Purchase Details: A friend who shared this with us bought it at the winery for approximately $12.
Tasting Notes: In the glass the wine is a pale gold color. On the nose, stone fruits, flint and tropical fruit. In the mouth I get hints of papaya, white peaches, flint and wet stone. This is a pretty full-bodied white wine with a little bit of an abrasive and hard edge to it. The flavor profile is more mineral and stone driven than fruit-driven.
Food Pairing & Context in Which to Enjoy: Roasted chicken, ahi tuna steaks, salmon and pan fried pork chops.
Winery & Other Background Information: My first exposure to Laetitia Wines was to their pretty rose sparkler that got a lot of attention in our store because of the bottle shape as well as the color of the liquid in the bottle. I have since then tried their estate pinot noir and this pinot blanc.
They’re definitely one of the bigger of not biggest estates in the area, as evidenced by their wide breadth of wines in their portfolio. In addition to their still wine program, they also have a comprehensive sparkling wine program, a value line called Barnwood and a premium line called Nadia (so named for the owner’s daughter).
